This book is essentially an abridged version of the exposition of the six perfections as given in the Mahaprajnaparamitasastra translated from the Chinese into French by E. Lamotte. With some modifications and adjustments of style, the present abridged version follows the basic structure and layout of the text and annotations as found in Lamotte's translation. However, the reader should be aware that the exposition of the perfections as given here is an abridgement and that it focuses predominantly on the doctrinal information on the six perfections. The Sastra's exposition of the perfections contains quite a few lengthy and interesting but secondary discussions and it is interspersed with some sixty edifying stories and jataka type of narratives.
