About Book:

This volume presents a synthesized approach to horoscope compatibility analysis, developed over some years of experimentation. This approach blends the principles of compatibility analysis familiar to most practising Jyotish with other, lesser-known techniques culled from Jyotisha's classical canon. Certain of these techniques are based on oral traditions that somehow were never

incorporated into the classical works of antiquity. Others come from our direct lineage mentors of Jyotisha. Yet others have been nurtured by our direct lineage mentors of Jyotisha. Yet others have been nurtured from both Western and Eastern inspirational seeds into processes that have been validated over many years of experience. Our attempts to synthesize notwithstanding, we believe the foundations of the methods that we introduce here are firmly anchored in Jyotisha.

Many readers will find that the principles we advocate cohere in practice rather more readily than they may seem to in print. To minimize the risk of selecting illustrative horoscopes that merely selectively support our theses, we have purposely chosen a limited set of examples, testing each of our varied techniques on the same subjects to provide a fairer picture of how an actual relationship analysis might proceed.

Building on some of the best principles from both Eastern and Western astrological traditions, authors Hart de Fouw and Robert E. Svoboda presents a synthesized approach to horoscope compatibility analysis, developed over years of experimentation. This approach blends principles of analysis familiar to those who have studied Indian astrology with lesser-known techniques culled from the classic texts and oral traditions of Jyotisha. Their technique bridges the chasm between Western horoscope comparison and the culture-specific traditions of Indian astrology.

De Fouw and Svoboda provide sample charts illustrating the techniques they use; they examine compatibility issues and look at the strength or potential of a relationship. The authors maintain that your chart outlines your fate only in that it reflects your traits and ideals-karmas dictated by past actions and conditioning-which can be mediated by exercising free will. Chart analysis then becomes a useful tool for self-awareness when examining a relationship: what strengths complement each other and what weaknesses will require conscious work.

About Author:

Dr Robert Svoboda is the first Westerner ever to graduate from a college of Ayurveda and be licensed to practice Ayurveda in India. During and after his formal Ayurvedic training he was tutored in Ayurveda, Yoga, Jyotish, Tantra and other forms of classical Indian lore by his mentor, the Aghori Vimalananda. He is the author of twelve books including Prakriti: Your Ayurvedic Constitution and the Aghora series, which discusses his experiences with his mentor during the years 1975 – 1983. (Information on all of his books can be found here)

Dr Svoboda was born in Texas in 1953, and in 1972 earned a B.S. from the University of Oklahoma in Chemistry with a minor in French. After being ritually initiated into the Pokot tribe of northern Kenya as its first white member in June 1973 he moved to India, where he lived from 1973-80 and 1982-86, receiving his Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (Ayurvedacharya) from the University of Poona in 1980. In his final year of study at the Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, he won all but one of the University of Poona’s awards for academic excellence in Ayurveda, including the Ram Narayan Sharma Gold Medal.

The Aghori Vimalananda also owned thoroughbred racehorses, and Dr Svoboda served as his Authorized Racing Agent at the Royal Western India Turf Club in Bombay and Poona between 1975 and 1985. He later served as Adjunct Faculty at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM, and at Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA.

In the years since 1986 Dr Svoboda has travelled extensively, spending three months per year on average in India. He often speaks on Ayurveda, Jyotish, Tantra and allied subjects in locales across the world.
